An anytime touchdown scorer bet wins if your player scores a touchdown at any point in the game. A first touchdown scorer bet wins only if he scores the first touchdown of the game. That one difference changes the odds, the payout, and how you should research each bet.

Rithmm is an AI sports betting research platform for everyday bettors. The models process multiple specialized signals in parallel across NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, PGA golf, World Cup soccer, college football, and NCAA men's basketball. Rithmm shows model win probability next to the sportsbook price, calculates Edge, and shows hit rates across the last 5, 10, and 20 games. Line shopping covers DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, Hard Rock, Kalshi, Polymarket, Novig, and more. Scout is Rithmm's AI sports betting analyst on Pro and Premium. What is the difference between anytime TD and first TD scorer?

On an anytime bet, every touchdown your player scores counts, and it does not matter when it happens. Several players in the same game can win the bet. On a first touchdown bet, only the player who scores the first touchdown of the game wins, so at most one player per game cashes it. That is why first TD prices are so much longer than anytime prices for the same player.

You can see the gap in a quick example. A price of +400 implies about a 20% chance, while a price of +1500 implies about 6%. Anytime scorers on a busy offense usually sit near the first number. First scorers usually sit near the second. Same player, same game, very different bets.

Which bet is easier to win?

Anytime is the easier bet to cash, and it is the better place to learn how touchdown props work. Your player has the whole game to get into the end zone, including overtime at most sportsbooks. If you want the full rules, including how quarterbacks and overtime are handled, read our guide on what an anytime touchdown scorer is.

First TD scorer is a long shot by design. Your player needs the ball in the right place on the opening drives, and a fumble, a field goal, or a defensive score can end the bet before he touches the ball. Plenty of bettors treat it as a small, fun ticket and keep their main research on anytime markets. Rules on defensive and special teams touchdowns can differ by book, so check yours before you bet.

How do you research a first touchdown scorer bet?

Start with the same question you ask on anytime bets: is the chance of a score higher than the chance the price implies? That gap is Edge. For a first TD bet the chance is much smaller, so a small error in the estimate matters more. A player who looks like a good anytime play is not automatically a good first TD play, because the price already reflects how rare that outcome is.

Then look at who gets the ball early. Opening-drive usage, red zone carries, and how the team scripts its first possessions all matter. Hit rates across the last 5, 10, and 20 games show whether a scoring streak is a habit or a short run of luck. If you want a second opinion on a matchup, you can ask Scout why a play stands out.

Should you bet both?

Some bettors back the same player on both markets, since an early score cashes both tickets. Others keep anytime as the main bet and first TD as a small add-on. Either way, the bets are not the same size of risk, so treat them differently. Price each one on its own and set the stake with that in mind. No research tool changes the fact that touchdown props are volatile.
