Santa Clara Preview
The Broncos enter tonight's game with a 9 - 5 overall record (1 - 0 in the WCC) and are riding a six-game winning streak.
Santa Clara last played on Saturday with a win over Pepperdine 91 - 80. Adama Bal dropped 19 points and had eight assists to lead the Broncos along with Tyree Bryan who had 18 points and five rebounds on the night.
Adama is averaging 13.9 points and 2.7 assists per game followed closely by forward Elijah Mahi who is averaging 13.3 points with 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
Santa Clara is currently ranked 94th in the ESPN Men's College Basketball Power Index 2024-25.
San Francisco Preview
The Dons find themselves tied for first in the West Coast Conference with St. Mary's and Washington State, all with identical 11 - 3, 1 - 0 records, and San Francisco is 7 - 1 over their last 8 games with a two-game winning streak on the line.
San Francisco beat Loyola Marymount 70 - 55 on Saturday and were led by Malik Thomas who had 19 points and seven rebounds on the night. Marcus Williams added 16 points on 6 for 12 shooting with three rebounds and three assists including going 4 for 8 from beyond the arc.
The Dons are solid on the boards having four players averaging 4.1 or more rebounds a game and KenPom has them ranked 26th in adjusted defensive efficiency.
San Francisco is currently ranked 69th in the ESPN Men's College Basketball Power Index 2024-25.
Models for my Santa Clara vs San Francisco AI Prediction
Not every game will be Gonzaga vs UCLA and if you're only betting the big games, you're not only missing out on some decent basketball, you're missing out on some amazing opportunities to win some bets.
KenPom has Santa Clara ranked 75th overall and the Dons are ranked 59th in his overall Net Rating.
The Broncos are averaging 73.4 points per game, 1.9 points below the Dons at 75.3 and they average 10 three-pointers per game vs San Francisco 's 8.8.
My Rithmm models are all in agreement on this game, though they are not super hungry and they all show a caution, but this model has a solid 54.4% win rate and the game has a 54.9% win probability.
And when I compare this to my other metrics, I find an interesting aside here. The Dons are favored at -4.5 but the money is very heavy on the Broncos covering this spread to the tune of an 83% bet split. So I have to ask myself, if the public is so heavy on Santa Clara to cover this, why is the line moving towards San Francisco?
I grabbed this early this morning when the line was -4.5 so it may be prudent to keep an eye on it to see if it drops back down from the -5 it's at now.
I'll be playing the models and taking the Dons -4.5.
